Anthony Morcombe
Anthony has over 20 years experience in state and local government and in the private practice in Western Australia and in local government in Victoria.
Anthony’s expertise includes preparing and negotiating approvals for structure plans, subdivisions, Detailed Area Plans, development applications, planning scheme amendments, planning policies, heritage matters and liquor licences.
Anthony has lead teams of statutory planners and multidisciplinary consultant teams to plan and implement a range of development projects.
Selected major projects prior to MW Urban include:
- North Eglinton (LandCorp and Satterley Property Group);
- Ellenbrook (LWP);
- Watsonia Factory and Surrounds, Spearwood (George Weston Foods);
- Elizabeth Quay (LandCorp/Department of Planning/Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority);
- Al Ain City Image Management Strategy (Al Ain Municipality, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates).
Anthony also has extensive experience as a senior statutory and strategic planner in the government sector, including the Department of Planning, and Perth and Subiaco City Councils in WA, and at the Melbourne, Stonnington, Moreland and Kingston City Councils in Victoria.
Anthony has a keen interest in achieving good built form and urban design outcomes that create interesting places and communities.

Tony Watson
Tony has more than 25 years experience, working primarily in the public and private sectors in Western Australia. Most recently, Tony held the position of Coordinator (Special Projects) at the City of Cockburn. In this position, Tony worked with the private sector and Government on award winning projects – Port Coogee, South Beach, Cockburn Central and Harvest Lakes. Tony’s involvement in these projects included work in the following areas: structure planning, subdivision, built form guidance (Detailed Area Plans and design guidelines), and application assessment and determination.
Prior to working at the City of Cockburn, Tony enjoyed a 10 year association with the award winning East Perth Redevelopment Authority (EPRA), both as an employee and as a consultant to the Authority. Tony performed a significant role in the delivery of the Authority’s statutory responsibilities on the East Perth project and The Village Northbridge, liaising and working closely with other Government agencies and a broad range of development professionals. Tony continues to follow with interest the work of the now MRA (Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority).
Tony has also worked in a number of positions at the Cities of Perth and Subiaco, including the role of Planning Manager at the City of Subiaco. He has also worked in the Victorian and New South Wales planning systems.
Tony is extremely interested in the delivery of appropriately located, well designed housing solutions for the purpose of accommodating Perth’s growing – and changing population. This interest extends to include well designed mixed use development, development at density and alternative infill solutions.
